The iconic smiley-faced balloon is chopped up, rearranged, inflated to fit forms, voids and architectual gaps separating the object from its intended purpose and meaning of simple happiness. The balloons appear stuffed together in a chimney that can be perceived either as escaping or entering the room. In another image, the balloon is shoved in a frame with the face abstracted and confined, pressed firmly to the back of the glass.
This was a project that I did for myself and I chose to include this here in my professional design work, because I think this is a good example of how a simple gesture can make a strong statement. I can envision this as a starting off point for a branding exercise. I also sometimes like to start with an idea using physical objects even if the idea ends up in the digital environment.
